or: Comme des Garcons VS. POP cph
Today Frankfurt Fashion got news from the POP boys from Copenhagen...
As a provoking intro in the latest mail by POP cph they did an animation where a big POP logo falls down on a group of other logos, pushing them away. The brands were Commes des Garcons, Viktor & Rolf, Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney. All have that in common that they have collaborated with H&M, and so, the point was give an ambivalent critism to the phenomena that fashion brands "sell out" to big chains and in return, the chains use the brands for media interest and image. Or is it simply a healthy synergetic collaboration? Nevertheless, Comme des Garcons was not satisfied with the critism, and asked the designers of POP cph to remove their logo. So, they did. And instead they added the British celebrity designer Matthew Williamson, who is designing a capsule collection for, how could it be, H&M... Frankfurt Fashion just hopes, that this phenomen will stop. Designers, please, stop selling your souls.
